Kunststof met een premium ‘glass-look’
Philips Domestic Appliances, onderdeel van Philips Nederland, had een uitdaging: kun je een in glas bedacht product realiseren in kunststof, waarmee breekbaarheid, gewicht en kosten optimaal zijn en we een high-end consumenten product kunnen ontwikkelen?
Onze oplossing: een ontwerp van PET kunststof en net zo dikwandig als glas. Met PET materiaal zijn zeer goed schokbestendige producten te maken tegen lage kosten. De techniek was alleen nooit toegepast op dikwandige producten (zoals in glas) met een hoge eisen aan de uitstraling.
Out of the box oplossing
Binnen een maand ontwikkelden we, door een bestaand productieproces vernieuwend toe te passen, de eerste prototypes om te bewijzen dat het kan. Geschikt voor massa productie, licht en veilig voor transport.
